DIMENSIONS provides specialist training, development and support for staff in mainstream schools so that they are better equipped to help children and young people with SEN.
The service is available to mainstream schools and settings with children whose needs can be described as complex and where a school or setting would benefit from specialist advice, usually in the short term, on how best to support them.
1. In-school Support
DIMENSIONS Center offers support ranging from providing behaviour advice to a teacher in school to working 1:1 with the referred child. The therapist may work with a small group of children within the school and also offer aspects of training to staff should time allow. If there is an aspect of support that the school would like implemented DIMENSIONS will happily discuss this with the school.
Referrals for this service can be made by a child’s school or by their parents with the permission of the school, and are made on the basis that the school has used its normal range of interventions but with little impact and that the child continues to move in the direction of a permanent exclusion.
Staff Training
The Center also provides training/development/support for staff in mainstream schools and settings, in the domains of social inclusion, attainment and independent daily living skills, allowing them to build upon their existing skills, knowledge and expertise so that they are better equipped to cater for those children and young people with SEN in their care.
